I said in my last post that I would share how I made the zombie bite on my arm using only flour, water, and paint. It was for my 80s Zombie theme birthday party, but since Halloween is coming up, I thought I would share. I didn't have fake blood on hand, but it would have made it even better if I had. And I didn't have the materials that would normally be used for something like this. Therefore, I improvised, and tested this out. I didn't have body paint either, so I used acrylic. It does start to crack as it dries and as you move, but it did hold up for about two hours before I washed it off. It did wash off fairly easy, which was great. It was also inexpensive, which is the best part.
I mixed together flour and water until it got to a good spreadable consistency. Then I molded it into a bite like form, making sure to spread it out on my arm so it would blend on the edges. I let that dry.
I painted around the bite with yellow and light green to make it look like the disease is spreading. Make sure to paint this part large enough to be seen when more painting is done later.
Then I went in with a paint brush and a dark red to get the shadows. Make sure to get in all the crevices. Once that was dry, I used the same paint brush over the top where I thought highlights would be with a bright red.
I went around the bite with more of the darker red paint and a sponge this time to make it seem bruised and splattered. Then I painted veins lightly with blue and pink using a tiny paint brush.
Here is where I would have added the blood, but I still think it turned out good considering what I used. You can see some small cracking, but it's not bad.
